October 22-29, 2018:
Beginning on October 22, 2018, 15 packages containing improvised explosive devices were received at multiple locations in New York, Washington, D.C., Florida, Delaware, California, and Georgia. Packages were delivered to prominent critics of President Trump including:
- Billionaire investor George Soros;
- Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton;
- Former President Barack Obama;
- Former CIA Director John Brennan, care of CNN;
- Former Attorney General Eric Holder, rerouted to the return address in Florida;
- two to Representative Maxine Waters in both Washington, D.C. and California;
- Actor Robert DeNiro;
- two in Delaware to former Vice President Joseph Biden;
- Senator Cory Booker;
- Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper;
- Senator Kamala Harris;
- Billionaire investor Tom Steyer; and
- CNN Center
Fortunately, the attempted bombings were thwarted by several law enforcement agencies, and none of the packages detonated outside of a controlled area. On October 26, 2018, the FBI confirmed one person in custody, Cesar Sayoc, in connection with the investigation.– (FBI Press Release) (FBI Statement on Investigation)
