August 4, 2019:

Early on the morning of August 4, 2019 at approximately 1:09 am, a gunman opened fire on the popular nightlife Organ District in downtown Dayton, Ohio. The gunman, Connor Betts, was reported to be wearing body armor and carrying high-capacity magazines as he shot into the crowd. Within 30 seconds of the first shot, police officers arrived at the scene and killed the gunman. As of August 6, there is nothing conclusive as to a motive behind the mass shooting. Nine people, including the gunman’s sister, were killed, and 27 others injured. The FBI is working with local officials in the investigation to pinpoint a motive. (WMRA) (WLWT5)

This incidents occurred only 13 hours after the mass shooting in El Paso, Texas and just days after a shooting at the Gilroy, California Garlic Festival, which resulted in three fatalities.
