Hurricane Idalia formed from a low-pressure area across Central America and grew along the Western part of the Caribbean Sea until it became a tropical storm and received its name. The hurricane developed into a Category 4 along the Gulf of Mexico and made landfall in Southern Florida at a Category 3. It moved through Northern Florida and Southeast Georgia and finally settled back into a tropical storm in the Carolinas. The post-tropical cyclone passed south of Bermuda and wound down off the coast of Nova Scotia. This hurricane resulted in many fatalities and property damage with winds as high as 130 mph.
