Stemming the Flow of Narcotics at the US-Canada Border
The 2020 Strategy addresses the issue of smuggling drugs across the United States-Canada border. The Strategy identifies different types of illegal drugs being brought into the United States, as well as the varied means of transportation used by Transnational Criminal Organizations (TCOs). The Strategy alleges that the TCOs are also guilty of exploiting tribal jurisdictions in order to “smuggle illegal drugs such as heroin, fentanyl, methamphetamine, marijuana, MDMA (ecstasy), and cocaine as well as weapons and the illicit proceeds from drug sales between the two countries.”
The Strategy suggests new means of collaborating with the northern ally to protect the American public from an influx of new criminal networks and illicit drugs.
