The Investigative Committee on the Robb Elementary Shooting of the Eighty-seventh Legislature released an interim report for consideration. Although investigations still continue, the committee put together this interim report with as many facts as possible regarding the events that transpired on May 24, 2022. The report is meant to honor the victims and their families. With this in mind, it does not share the name or image of the shooter involved in this tragedy. Systematic shortcomings of the independent school district as well as those of the local law enforcement during the shooting are described in detail. Some of these failures include:
- Improper maintenance of doors and locking mechanisms;
- Failure of law enforcement to prioritize victims” safety over their own;
- Lack of clear and efficient communication — electronic or otherwise;
- and Poor execution of lockdown procedure by school staff members.
Due to these unfortunate circumstances, it is stated in the report that the victims were killed before a single responder set foot in the school. The report contains a dedication for each of the fallen students.
