The Brookings Institution has released Reopening America a report that examines many facets of American efforts to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. The publication is the first in a two-volume series Reopening America and the World presented by dozens of Brookings scholars who explore various aspects of global recovery in an effort to inform the public conversation about COVID-19, and help leaders take their next steps towards recovery.
The domestically focused first report takes into account fundamental challenges specific to the U.S. and presents a variety of ideas to help protect public health, restart the economy and promote social well-being as America reopens. Within Reopening America, Brookings scholars offer twenty-two unique articles on topics ranging from testing and unemployment benefits, to equitable healthcare, congressional oversight, and the use of emerging technologies such as AI.
