Public-safety radio interference critical level

Washington, D.C., public-safety organizations announced a letter asking President Bush to support a Consensus Plan developed by first-responder organizations and private wireless companies that would reduce or eliminate 800MHz radio interference. The intermingling of the 800MHz spectrum with commercial wireless operators causes radio interference that has reached a critical level in more than 30 states. The Plan proposes to realign the 800MHz spectrum to give public safety its own portion of bandwidth free from interference.
