Proposed rules of EAS ease burden for Cable Television

New proposed ruling on cable television Emergency Alert Systems (EAS) will greatly relieve a financial burden on the wireless cable television industry serving 5000 subscribers or more. Current rules require EAS messages to be broad casted on all channels of a cable system. The new proposed rules would allow cable providers to provide a dedicated station that would be dedicated to Emergency Alerts with a “force tune” to that system when activated.
