New report reviews remote surveillance technology along U.S. land borders

From the DHS Office of Inspector General: A Review of Remote Surveillance Technology Along U.S. Land Borders.

Remote surveillance technology is implemented through the Integrated Surveillance Intelligence System (ISIS) program and the America’s Shield Initiative (ASI). Among its conclusions, the report finds that the ISIS components are not fully integrated. Cameras do not automatically pan toward sensors when a sensor is activated, and sensors do not differentiate between illegal activity and animal or weather activations, so Border Patrol agents are often dispatched to false alarms.
