National Insider Threat Awareness Month


September is National Insider Threat Awareness Month (NITAM), and the official website recognizing NITAM can be accessed by clicking here. Published by the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency’s Center for Development of Security Excellence, the yearly theme featured on the website for 2022 is Critical Thinking in Digital Spaces.

The website provides links to recent news and upcoming events, as well as resources promoting awareness, preparation, and participation as it relates to insider threats.

An insider threat will use her/his authorized access, wittingly or unwittingly, to do harm to the security of the United States. This threat can include damage to the United States through espionage, terrorism, unauthorized disclosure of national security information, or through the loss or degradation of departmental resources or capabilities.
