Homeland Defense reaps recycled Army vehicles

United Defense, one of the largest suppliers of military equipment now has a domestic client, the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office in Alabama. The Sheriff’s department just received the first of two 12 ton Tactical Command Post Vehicle, a member of the M113 family used in search and rescue, counter drug programs, SWAT, border patrols and other law enforcement agencies. United Defense converted the surplus vehicles for domestic use and will provide maintenance. Through the 1033 program, this and other law enforcement agencies can receive surplus DoD equipment for their mission.
