Global Health Emergencies: Prepare for the Worst

The Report on Global Preparedness for Health Emergencies from the Global Preparedness Monitoring Board (GPMB), an extension of the World Health Organization (WHO), is a call-to-action to proactively plan and establish global protocol for when public health emergencies hit.

The report points out that many factors that could trigger a wide-spread epidemic (and potentially a global pandemic) are already in place and in some cases worsening, and calls for aggressive leadership to drive progress in preparedness, address the challenges in global mobilization, and take action now to prepare for a global health emergency.

GMPB believes that we have the resources, but need financing and legislation that will equip world leaders with the tools they need to combat and survive health epidemics.
