Flooding in the Philippines: New Webpage for Locating/Reporting People

Due to the seasonal monsoon rains and tropical storms in the region, the Philippines is currently experiencing widespread flooding that has left parts of the country without services and thousands without homes/shelter. News reports indicate that the flooding has forced nearly 130,000 people across the country from their homes. One disaster agency is reporting that around 78,000 people were staying in emergency shelters.

As a result of the displacement of people fleeing the floods and seeking shelter, the National Institute of Health has created a website titled “People Locator for the 2012 Philippine Floods.” The webpage can be used to search for people in the Philippines, report a person, and also offers help and resources.
