2012 – Hurricane Sandy formed (dissipated 10/31)
On October 22nd, 2012, Hurricane Sandy formed off a tropical wave in the Caribbean Sea. It would end up killing at least 286 people over the span of eight countries. It is second only to Hurricane Katrina in total damages assessed.
