EPA’s 2025 Southern California Wildfire Response

On January 8th, 2025, President Biden approved a federal disaster declaration for the Palisades, Eaton, and Hurst fires in the area of Los Angeles County in Southern California. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) assigned the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to handle the hazardous materials from all burned areas. The EPA has released an interactive webpage outlining their response to the 2025 Southern California wildfires, which includes a status map, response actions, progress metrics, air monitoring, and more. This webpage will be frequently updated to help track the EPA’s progression of removing hazardous material.
