The Department of Defense (DoD) has recently announced the release of an updated report detailing its data, analytics, and artificial intelligence (AI) strategy. While the DoD has been investing in AI technology for “over 60 years,” the report emphasizes the ongoing need for development at the organizational level, despite significant progress. This guide serves as a foundation to “strengthen the organizational environment in which DoD deploys data, analytics, and AI capabilities for enduring decision advantage.”
In 2018, DoD published a public summary of its AI Strategy, followed by the unveiling of its Data Strategy in 2020. However, the rapidly evolving industry landscape has prompted the DoD to establish new departmental goals, particularly in fostering an “agile” environment that prioritizes swift decision-making. For detailed information on the implementation plans, we encourage you to explore the complete report.
