CIA’s First Public National Security Conference

CIAOn Wednesday, June 11, 2014, the CIA hosted their first public National Security Conference titled, “The Ethos and the Profession of Intelligence” at Georgetown University. 

The conference, co-sponsored with Georgetown University’s Security Studies Program, served as a platform to discuss a variety of topics important to national security. The current CIA Director, John Brennan, delivered the keynote address, and former FBI Director, Robert Mueller III, gave the opening remarks for the conference.

The conference panels examined various topics including:

  • Intelligence and Technology: Emerging Threats and Collection
  • Intelligence and the Private Sector
  • The Role of Intelligence in the 21st Century
  • Balancing Secrecy and Transparency:  Accountability and the Public
