2012 Updates: Radiation Emergency Medical Management Website & Cell Phone Applications

Radiation Emergency Medical Management [Website]

The Radiation Emergency Medical Management (REMM) is a website that was produced by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. As of January 2012 the website has been updated, along with the mobile REMM applications for the iPhone, iPad, Android, Blackberry and Windows Mobile. The new applications can also be downloaded to any computer or USB device. The REMM website strongly suggests that past and current users update any previous versions of REMM that have been downloaded to computers, USB drives, or mobile devices.

The goals of the REMM website include:

-“Provide guidance for health care providers, primarily physicians, about clinical diagnosis and treatment of radiation injury during radiological and nuclear emergencies”

-“Provide just-in-time, evidence-based, usable information with sufficient background and context to make complex issues understandable to those without formal radiation medicine expertise”

-“Provide web-based information that is also downloadable in advance, so that it would be available during an emergency if the internet is not accessible”
