DoD Releases 2010 Edition of the Manual for Military Commissions

On Tuesday, the Department of Defense (DoD) released the 2010 Edition of the Manual for Military Commissions. "The manual establishes the rules of evidence and procedure for the commissions, allowing for the admission of certain hearsay evidence and defining 'material support' for terrorism." This document is important for laying-out the "rules" for trials of individuals such as Canadian Guantanamo Bay detainee Omar Khadr. His trial is expected to begin in July 2010 and will be the first under President Obama's administration.
