U.S. Department of Homeland Security Announces the FY 2008 Budget Request at $46.4 Billion

http://www.dhs.gov/xnews/releases/pr_1170702193412.shtm Released February 5, President Bush's fiscal year 2008 budget request for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is at $46.4 billion, an increase of 8 percent over the 2007 budget request. The request specifies five areas that the Administration considers vital to "securing America" and preserving America's "freedom and privacy." The five budget categories are: 1. Continue to Protect our Nation from Dangerous People 2. Continue to Protect our Nation from Dangerous Goods 3. Protect Critical Infrastructure 4. Build a Nimble and Effective Emergency Response System and Culture of Preparedness 5.
