House Intelligence Committee releases report on al-Qaeda

al-Qaeda: The Many Faces of an Islamist Extremist Threat The House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence has released a status report on al-Qaeda has it is viewed today. In this report, the committee members looks at al-Qaeda as an international movement, as a movement in Iraq, as a movement within the United States and Western Europe and its evolution from pre 9/11 to present day. This evolution includes a migration from a known terrorist group to an ideological terrorist entity making it more dangerous and more easily spread. The report foresees the movement growing though the use of networks and through the Internet. The report includes additional views of both individuals and the committee's minority members.
