Establishing Medical Operations Coordination Cells (MOCCs) for COVID-19 [presentation]
From the Executive Summary: "[1] Some hospitals are overwhelmed with COVID-19 [coronavirus disease 2019] patients, while successful mitigation has created excess capacity in nearby hospitals, creating an opportunity to transfer patients; [2] MOCCs [Medical Operations Coordination Cells] are a strategy to optimize patient distribution by augmenting EOCs [emergency operations centers] with clinical experts that synthesize and coordinate healthcare capacity; [3] The MOCC strategy can be implemented nationwide (at sub-state, state-, and regional levels), through a modifiable toolkit, technical assistance, and federal funding, permitting flexibility for states while optimizing patient distribution."

The original webinar was moderated by Meghan Treber of ASPR [US Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response] TRACIE [Technical Resources, Assistance Center and Information Exchange]. The presentation includes links to resources regarding COVID-19. The following presenters also included slides in the presentation: Eric Toner from the Center for Health Security, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health; John Hick of Hennepin Health in Minnesota; and Dan Hanfling from In-Q-Tel and George Washington University.
