Evacuteer.org [website]
"Evacuteer.org is a non-profit organization incorporated by the State of Louisiana on June 8, 2009, and approved as a 501©3 tax-exempt entity by the IRS on August 17th, 2009. Evacuteer.org recruits, trains, and manages evacuation volunteers (evacuteers) who assist with New Orleans' public evacuation option called the City Assisted Evacuation Plan (CAEP). The CAEP activates when a mandatory evacuation is called in the city of New Orleans and is designed to move 25,000-30,000 New Orleanians without transportation. The City has successfully implemented the plan once, in advance of Hurricane Gustav (Sept. 2008), when 18,000 residents utilized the CAEP. Evacuteer.org is an organization created out of lessons learned from that experience. Through an existing agreement with the City of New Orleans Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (NOHSEP), the City of New Orleans has authorized evacuteer.org to manage all volunteers who work within the CAEP at 17 neighborhood pick-up points, at the Union Passenger Terminal (hereafter UPT) for evacuee processing, and at City Hall to assist with hotline operation."

Enough to Eat: The Impact of COVID-19 on Food Insecurity and the Food Environment in L. A. County April 2020 -September 2021
From the Introduction: "The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020 posed unique and significant challenges for urban areas. The high concentrations of economic activity and population density made these regions hotspots for infections. With nearly 10 million residents accounting for 27% of California's population, Los Angeles County was no exception. [...] 'Food insecurity' refers to disruptions in food access and regular eating because of limited money or other resources. Although food insecurity often results in hunger, it is also linked to a host of negative physical and mental health outcomes for children and adults, including poor nutrition, problems with mental health, cognition, and sleep, and greater risk for diet-related diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and hypertension. [...] '[T]his final report summarizes the current state of food insecurity in L.A. County'. We find that rates of food insecurity have declined since the onset of the pandemic, but 1 in 10 households remained food insecure in the first half of 2021. This report also 'describes access to food outlets and food assistance during the pandemic, and variability and vulnerability in food access', using innovative data and analytics to understand the complexity of the L.A. County food environment. We conclude with recommendations based on this analysis and our 16 months of research."

Nuclear Command, Control, and Stability Framework
"This project investigates the topic of nuclear command and control (C2) as a policy consideration for expressing and mitigating nuclear risks. The research was led by the Virginia Tech Applied Research Corporation (VT-ARC) with a sub-award to ANSER's [Analytic Services] Asia-Pacific Institute. The overall structure for the project revolves around two independent assessments of a stability framework proposed in the 2007 book chapter titled, 'Nuclear Command and Control in the Twenty First Century: Trends, Disparities and the Impact on Stability.' The first independent assessment was conducted by the Decision Support Red Team (DSRT) group at VT-ARC and focused on the functional design of the stability framework and the ease and accuracy with which it could be used by policy makers. This assessment was agnostic of specific regional and global characteristics and focused on the framework as a tool for expressing power dynamics. The second independent assessment was conducted by a research team at ANSER and took a deeper look at the merit of the stability framework for expressing nuclear stability dynamics in a regional (bipolar or multi-polar) context. A primary focus of both independent assessments was to determine the overall utility of the Framework for its application and use as a tool for constructive discourse by policy makers and non-technical personnel."
