"The present study will reveal if explosive compounds can be extracted from blowfly larvae or pupae, thus revealing chemical composition. Upon identification of the chemical composition (chemical signature), the information can be used along with other identifiers to prove or disprove a hypothesis that the substance came from a certain manufacturer or locale. Such comparative explosive samples can also be obtained from clothing, footwear, and under fingernails, thus connecting the suspect to the crime. The items then can be compared to trace evidence or other articles in question. If analysis is conducted properly one can possibly reveal that the suspect came in contact with such specific substances; unquestionably, he or she could be tied to the crime that was committed. The information can then be applied to an intelligence product and disseminated to leading policymakers in the field who can take political or military action to interdict the supply of explosives at their source."
