Minimum Recommended Guidance on Protection and Decontamination for First Responders Involved in COVID-19 Cases - Quick Reaction Guide
From the Document: "Minimum PPE [personal protective equipment] Recommendations [1] The principal exposure to emergency responders occurs by inhaling aerosolized droplets from an infected person's sneezes, coughs, or talking and by hand to nose, mouth, and/or eye contact (autoinoculation). [2] Select appropriate PPE including respirators, eye protection, gloves, and body protection to prevent exposure or limit contamination transfer per recommendations below; obtain PPE that meets industry standards wherever possible. [3] Follow manufacturer, CDC [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention], or WHO [World Health Organization] instructions for properly putting on, wearing, and removing PPE items; undertake extreme care and follow the appropriate sequence for doffing PPE that is contaminated. [4] Carefully dispose of single-use PPE items and clean/sanitize/disinfect any multiple-use PPE as appropriate to the PPE item."

Minimum Recommended Guidance on Protection and Decontamination for First Responders Involved in COVID-19 Cases - Detailed Reaction Guide
From the Document: "Responders can be exposed to the SARS-CoV-2 [severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus-2] virus responsible for COVID-19 [coronavirus disease 2019] by inhaling aerosolized droplets from an infected individualized persons' coughs and sneezes as well as contact with contaminated surfaces with subsequent hand transfer to the mouth, nose, or eyes. First responders may be at increased risk for exposure with potentially sick patients from increased aerosol and fluid volumes and close proximity. For this reason, extra caution in the selection, handling, and cleaning of PPE [personal protective equipment] used by first responders must be exercised. Specific considerations must be given to respiratory, ocular, and skin protection for lessening exposure."

Balancing the Risk - Strategies for Respiratory Protection During a Pandemic
This document discusses a proposed approach for balancing risk while maintaining the highest level of protective posture as the pandemic continues."
