Personnel Accountability System Technology Assessment
"In recent years the fire service has focused considerable and increasing attention on the issue of personnel accountability. Although many fire and rescue agencies are now acknowledging the necessity of having a way to track and account for their personnel, it is difficult and confusing for some to choose the system and equipment best for them because of the variety of options available. Essentially, personnel accountability is an effort to improve the safety of emergency responders by keeping track of their locations and assignments when operating at the scene of an incident. Accountability can be maintained in many different ways. However, irrespective of the type of personnel accountability system (PAS) implemented, the goals are generally similar. A properly implemented PAS will help to ensure that the incident command staff knows the exact number and identity of personnel working at an incident, their approximate locations, and whether they are in distress." This 85 page manual is designed to focus attention on the issue of personnel accountability. Personnel accountability is an effort to improve the safety of emergency responders by keeping track of their locations and assignments when operating at the scene of an incident.

FBI: Uniform Crime Reporting [website]
"The Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program has been the starting place for law enforcement executives, students of criminal justice, researchers, members of the media, and the public at large seeking information on crime in the nation. The program was conceived in 1929 by the International Association of Chiefs of Police to meet the need for reliable uniform crime statistics for the nation. In 1930, the FBI was tasked with collecting, publishing, and archiving those statistics. Today, four annual publications, Crime in the United States, National Incident-Based Reporting System, Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted, and Hate Crime Statistics are produced from data received from over 18,000 city, university/college, county, state, tribal, and federal law enforcement agencies voluntarily participating in the program. The crime data are submitted either through a state UCR Program or directly to the FBI's UCR Program. In addition to these reports, information is available on the Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted (LEOKA) Program and the Hate Crime Statistics Program, as well as the traditional Summary Reporting System (SRS) and the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS)."

Developing Army Leaders through CGSOC/AMSP and BCTP
"How the Army prepares its officers to deal with the complexities of the battlefield is the purpose of this monograph. Specifically, this monograph will take a focused look at two distinct arms of the institutional training domain; the command and General Staff Officer's Course [CGSOC] and the Advanced Military Studies Program [AMSP] and the Battle Command Training Program [BCTP]…. This monograph provides an assessment on the Army's performance at these institutions and provides recommendations for improving them as well. The conclusion finds that the Army is doing a credible job in the training and education and makes the assertion that it is up to each individual officer to take ownership of his own development to ensure proficiency on the battlefield."

Exposure of Manufactured Housing to Wind in Hurricane Charley
This map provided by HAZUS-MH (Hazards U.S. - Multi Hazard), illustrates how manufactured housing in four SW Florida counties: Sarasota, Charlotte, Desoto, and Lee, were effected by the wind in Hurricane Charley. It also describes how HAZUS-MH can be used in pre-disaster preparation: Identification of manufactured housing (pre-1994) that is most vulnerable to wind, and estimation of the number of households that occupy manufactured housing, including low-income and elderly. In a post-disaster situation, it can be used to identify manufactured housing sites that have experienced peak gust winds in excess of 110 mph. It can also be used for application of estimates for damage assessment planning and search and rescue (SAR), and identification of manufactured housing sites that have a high probability of experiencing at least moderate damage.
