From the Highlights: "During the fiscal year 2022 appropriations process, Members of Congress could request funds for specific projects. Congress established new requirements to help ensure transparency around these requests. It also included a provision in the joint explanatory statement accompanying the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2022, for GAO [Government Accountability Office] to review the agencies' implementation of these provisions. This report provides an overview of fiscal year 2022 Community Project Funding/ Congressionally Directed Spending. Specifically, it provides information on (1) the agencies that were appropriated these funds; (2) the purpose of the funds, types of designated recipients, and location of projects; and (3) the period of availability of these funds."
