From the Opening Statement of Ernest Gruening: "This hearing on Senate bills 353, 354, 355, 356, and 357 has been called at the direction of the chairman of the Subcommittee on Public Lands, Hon. Alan Bible, of Nevada, with the approval of the chairman of the Senate Committee on Interior and Insular Affairs, Senator Clinton Anderson of New Mexico, who appointed me as chairman of a special subcommittee to take testimony on these bills in Alaska.
