From the Purpose and Summary: "H.R. 2781, the 'Educating Medical Professionals and Optimizing Workforce Efficiency and Readiness for Health Act of 2019' or the 'EMPOWER for Health Act of 2019', was introduced on May 16, 2019, by Reps. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) and Michael Burgess (R- TX) and referred to the Committee on Energy and Commerce. H.R. 2781 would reauthorize funding at the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) for health professions workforce, education, and training programs. The legislation expands efforts to increase diversity, improve geriatrics education and training, and grow the pediatric health care workforce."
