Viral Marketing: Counterfeits, Substandard Goods and Intellectual Property Crime in the COVID-19 Pandemic [open html - 0B]
From the Introduction: "Criminals trading in counterfeit goods, particularly counterfeit pharmaceutical and healthcare products, have been quick to exploit the COVID-19 [coronavirus disease 2019] pandemic. The widespread demand for various products has fuelled their criminal enterprises and they have been quick to adapt their product portfolios to exploit shortages of genuine products and the fear and anxieties of regular citizens. Some of the counterfeit products distributed risk lives and the safety of frontline workers in healthcare and other essential sectors. The profits generated by these criminals during this time of crisis are likely very substantial."
