This product provides a summary of legislative proposals considered in the 115th and 116th Congresses that relate to U.S. policy in Afghanistan. These address a number of issues, including the following: [1] The size of, and legal authorization for, the U.S. military presence in the country. [2] Executive branch transparency and regular reporting requirements. [3] The purposes for U.S. aid, and conditions under which it can be obligated.
