From the opening statement of Clement J . Zablocki: "The subcommittee will come to order. With this session today, the Subcommittee on National Security Policy and Scientific Developments begins hearings on a subject of vital interest and importance to all who are dedicated to the cause of peace. For the next 3 weeks--and beyond, we will be giving long overdue attention to the effects of space and weapons developments on U.S. alliances and security commitments abroad."
