This is the September 20, 1994 joint hearing titled "Ecosystem Management," held before the House Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations Committee on Natural Resources and the Subcommittee on Specialty Crops and Natural Resources Committee on Agriculture and the Subcommittee on Environment and Natural Resources Committee on Merchant Marine and Fisheries. From the opening statement of George Miller: "The hearing will come to order for the purposes of conducting an oversight hearing on the GAO [Government Accountability Office] report on ecosystem management and additional actions needed to adequately test the promising approach. [...] This report is in response to a request from Chairman Studds, Chairman Rose, and me, the request that we made to try to help us better understand and to manage the ecosystem approach that the administration has undertaken and to give us a better understanding of what changes may be necessary to fully implement it."
