From the opening statement of Ron Johnson: "This is an incredibly important position. I believe this is an incredibly important Department, particularly at the current time. The mission statement of this Committee is pretty straightforward--and I appreciate my new Ranking Member adding to it--but it is simple to state: to enhance the economic and national security of America and promote a more efficient, effective, and accountable government. And certainly from the homeland security side of it, we are really talking about the primary goals of securing our border, securing our homeland, our cyber assets, cybersecurity, protecting critical infrastructure, and combating violent extremism in any form."
