From the opening statement of Bill Richardson: "H.R. 4653 is the Mohegan Nation of Connecticut Land Claims Settlement Act. [...] This legislation ratifies a series of agreements between the State of Connecticut and the Town of Montville and the Mohegan Indian Tribe. These agreements provide for the transfer of certain state lands for the establishment of an Indian reservation for the Mohegan Indian Tribe and for the assumption of criminal jurisdiction by the State of Connecticut over Members of the Mohegan Indian Tribe and their lands."
