From the opening statement of Ken Calvert: "The subcommittee meets today for a second oversight hearing on energy and policy issues. We began this inquiry with a field hearing in Houston, Texas, just a few weeks ago to find out what several of our states are doing to revitalize our oil and gas sector. Today, the subcommittee wishes to investigate the contribution public lands and the Outer Continental Shelf lands can make to the nation's future oil and gas reserves, and the level of development these reserves can reasonably support."
