This is the February 15, 2017 hearing on "High Risk: Government Operations Susceptible to Waste, Fraud, and Mismanagement," held before the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. From the opening statement of Ron Johnson: "Today's hearing is about the GAO's [Government Accountability Office] High-Risk Series, their list. This is something that has been prepared by GAO since the early 1990s. The facts speak for themselves. In just the last 10 years, GAO reports that we probably saved about $240 million over that 10-year period by enacting their recommendations to make government more efficient and effective. That is $24 billion per year." Statements, letters, and materials submitted for the record include those of the following: Eugene L. Dodaro, John H. Thompson, Michael J. Missal, and John Roth.
