In her PrepTalk, Peek acknowledges improvements in addressing the needs of children in disasters, and gives emergency managers five specific ideas to reduce the vulnerability of children to disasters: Ensure that every child attends a safe school; Educate children about risk and risk reduction; Listen to and involve children so they can help themselves, other children, and adults; Encourage children's ingenuity and creativity; Cultivate anchors, advocates, and strong institutions for children."
