ABSTRACT

Congressional Budget Office Cost Estimate: H.R. 2200: Frederick Douglass Trafficking Victims Prevention and Protection Reauthorization Act of 2017   [open pdf - 36KB]

"H.R. [House Bill] 2200 would reauthorize several programs within the Departments of Justice (DOJ), Health and Human Services (HHS), Homeland Security (DHS), Labor, and State, and the U.S Agency for International Development that combat trafficking in persons. The bill would specifically authorize the appropriation of $129 million in 2018 and $135 million for each of fiscal years 2019, 2020, and 2021 for those purposes. In total, CBO [Congressional Budget Office] estimates that implementing the bill would cost almost $450 million over the 2018-2022 period, assuming appropriation of the authorized and necessary amounts. The remaining amounts would spend in years after 2022."
