This is the March 22, 2016 hearing on "The Role of Cyber Insurance in Risk Management" before the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection, and Security Technologies of the Committee on Homeland Security. The purpose of this hearing is to establish an understanding of the threat posed by cyber attacks on private sectors which put individuals at risk of harm. Cyber attacks on the private sector are a unique problem for the Department of Homeland Security given the status of private institutions as outside the jurisdiction of the Department of Homeland Security. This hearing proposes cyber insurance for private institutions without imposing obligatory measures.
