This is a testimony compilation of the February 24, 2016 hearing on "FY17 Nuclear Regulatory Commission Budget Request" held before the Senate Committee on Appropriations. From the opening statement of Lamar Alexander: "We're here today to review the president's fiscal year 2017 budget request for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the independent federal agency responsible for regulating the safety of our nation's commercial nuclear power plants and other nuclear materials. The budget request for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission is $970.2 million dollars. This is a decrease of $19.8 million dollars from fiscal year 2016. This decrease from last year's appropriations bill is a positive step toward making the Commission's budget reflect its actual workload." Statements, letters, and materials submitted for the record include those of the following: Stephen G. Burns, Kristine Svinicki, William Ostendorff, and Jeff Baran.
