The Working Conference on Emergency Management and Individuals with Disabilities and the Elderly brought together top experts from, around the country to address complex emergency planning issues as they related to people with, disabilities and the elderly, such as: planning tools, identification, sheltering, evacuation, restoration of, services, housing, etc. The expressed purposes of this conference were (i) to network Governor-appointed State teams, State, emergency management officials, and key disability and aging experts to facilitate the integration of, efforts within each jurisdiction's emergency management framework; (ii) to facilitate cooperative, planning with senior officials of the Federal Emergency Management Agency regions; and, (iii) to identify and institute measurable outcomes and systems for tracking results.
