This document provides guidance and, procedures concerning support for Federal, state, and local civilian law enforcement agencies (LEA), specifying limitations and restrictions on using Air Force members and resources in the active and reserve forces, military and civilian, and the Air National Guard units or members when federalized. From the document: "This instruction implements AFPD 10-8, 'Support to Civil Authorities,' and Department of Defense (DoD) Directive 5525.5, 'DoD Cooperation with Civilian Law Enforcement Officials,' January 15, 1986, with Change 1. It provides guidance and procedures concerning support for Federal, state, and local civilian law enforcement agencies (LEA), specifying limitations and restrictions on using Air Force members and resources in the active and reserve forces, military and civilian, and the Air National Guard units or members when federalized. Send recommended changes, additions, deletions, and any conflict or duplication of other reports to HQ USAF/XOOOD [Air Force Counterdrug Operations Division], 1480 Air Force Pentagon, Washington DC 20330-1480. Provide copies of publications that support or implement this AFI to HQ USAF/XOOOD. Waiver authority for this instruction is HQ USAF/XOO [Director of Operations, Deputy Chief of Staff, Plans and Operations]."
