A PI event will result in an increased number of deaths both in and out of medical treatment facilities. Existing fatality management systems in all communities will require an increased surge capacity and capability to manage the event."

The Fatality Management Pandemic Influenza Working Group Conference was sponsored by US Northern Command, in conjunction with the Department of Health and Human Services, and hosted by Joint Task Force Civil Support at Fort Monroe, Virginia, on March 22-23, 2006
