This report details the 18 July 2001 derailment of a CSX freight train that resulted in a fire caused by tank car carrying tripropylene. The heat from the fire caused an expansion of the tunnel which caused a water main to break filling the tunnel with water. The cause of the derailment is unknown, and not contributable to track conditions or human error.
