This is the 2014 review of the Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate. Taken from the Introduction: "Science and technology are essential to fulfilling the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) missions effectively, efficiently, and safely and addressing emerging challenges and opportunities. To that end, the Science and Technology Directorate's (S&T) mission is to strengthen America's security and resiliency by providing knowledge products and innovative technology solutions for the Homeland Security Enterprise (HSE). Congress created S&T for, among many things, conducting 'basic and applied research, development, demonstration, testing and evaluation activities relevant to any or all elements of the Department.'"
