"Several Turkish foreign and domestic policy issues have significant relevance for U.S. interests, and Congress plays an active role in shaping and overseeing U.S. relations with Turkey. This report provides information and analysis relevant for Congress on the following: (1) Assessments of U.S.-Turkey relations, Turkish foreign policy, and Turkey's strategic orientation. (2) Turkish efforts to cooperate with the United States and other countries to more closely control the flow of people and goods--especially foreign fighters--to and from Syria's conflict areas. (3) Key issues regarding Turkey's domestic politics and economy, including June 2015 parliamentary elections and controversies and congressional interest regarding Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the future of the country's constitutional system."
