Viewpoints in Homeland Defense and Security: Biological Adaptations as Models for Security [video]   [open html - 16KB]

"Many biological organisms deal with risk and uncertainty in ways applicable to the Department of Homeland Security. In this unique take on defense strategy, Dr. Rafe Sagarin exposes some of the defense techniques that can be drawn from the field of marine biology. Examples within this Viewpoints segment include: developing decentralized agents which contribute to a collective response, finding partnerships between unlikely groups, growing a culture that is adaptable, and using redundant solutions to deal with uncertainty."
