"To conduct its business, the Federal Gcr1emment including the Intelligence Community (IC), collects, maintains and discloses information about American citizens and permanent resident aliens. In 1974, the Privacy Act was established to protect these individuals' rights with regard to how the government uses the information it collects about them. Upon completing this course, you will be able to:  Describe how the Privacy Act of 1974 protects individuals' rights regarding information collected, maintained and disclosed about them by the Federal Government  Define Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and how it is protected".
