"The problem was the Martinsville Fire & EMS [Emergency Medical Services] Department has not had a strategic mass media smoke alarm testing campaign. The purpose of this applied research paper was to develop, implement and evaluate the results of a mass media smoke alarm testing campaign for the City of Martinsville. The action research method was used for this applied research project. Two months were used to develop the plan, three months to implement the plan, and one month to evaluate the plan. The research will be used to answer the following research questions: (a) How can radio be used; (b) How can television be used; (c) How can direct mail be used; and (d) How can reverse 911 be used?"
